A joint statement between Sudan Liberation Movement/Army and the Ba’ath Party
A joint protracted meeting was held in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi from 11th – 13th of September 2024, between the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army and the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party (origin), as continuation to the ongoing meetings among the two organizations on the pressing national issues and to explore ways of fostering their relationship and further enable the joint work. The discussions, however; focused on national issues, the current political situation, in light of the ongoing senseless war that started on 15th of April, 2023 and its prolonged period, ravage and engulfing to all parts of our country, the meeting which marked by deep and transparent deliberations on strategic issues also tackled the latest development, since the two parties inked the first joint declaration in Juba, South Sudan, accordingly; the discussions were wrapped up as follows:-
- Reaffirming the provisions of the previously signed joint declaration and to continue working on its implementation and bringing them to reality.
- The necessity to improve the joint declaration, in order to accommodate the strategic issues, in a way that foster the unification of energies, efforts and the struggling experience of the two organizations in various fields , for the benefit of our people and their aspirations for stability, sustainable peace and progress.
- To uphold to the unity of the Sudanese national territory, in the face of increasing and escalating projects of division and fragmentation, due to the ongoing war and the immoral and unpatriotic deeds of its parties
- To commit to the neutral stance between the two belligerent parties of the senseless war, without aligning with either side.
- Work to stop and end the war, through engaging with all national, regional and international efforts aimed at achieving that.
- Seriously confront and address the social consequences of the war and its catastrophic humanitarian impacts on the various components of our people.
- Confronting the discourse of seduction, the callings for militarization and the dissemination of hatred, that aims to tear apart the shared sentiment of the Sudanese people, while at the same time promoting the values of solidarity, cohesion and unity
- Continuing efforts to establish a broad and inclusive national front, excluding non except the National Congress Party and its facades, as well as those who willingly refuse to participate.
