From : The Civil Authority of the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army at SLA Liberated territories in Jebel Marra

To : UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and Coordination for Emergency Relief ( ERC) in Sudan

Dear; Sir/Madam

Referring to the above –mentioned subject and based on the extremely catastrophic and volatile humanitarian situation in Jebel Marra due to the ongoing vicious war in Sudan ; hundreds of thousands armless innocent civilians fled the hell of war to Sudan Liberation Army’s controlled territories in Jebel Marra under the leadership of SLM/A chairman Abdul Wahid Mohammed Ahmed Al Nour , since the war broke out on 15th of April 2023, consequently ; more than four hundred and fifty thousand families had already reached Jebel Marra and are now protected by the self- defense forces of SLA. However; as large numbers of Jebel Marra population continue to perish by attrition as a result of years of protracted humanitarian denial, the slow- motion death toll among the newly displaced war- affected victims is increasing exponentially, especially among elders , expectant and lactating mothers, children under 5 years and those who suffers from complicated diseases. Furthermore; the war-imposed unhealthy environmental condition led to proliferation of diseases as host communities and their vulnerable IDPs are caging houses of few meters with no trenched latrines and sanitary facilities, this explosive and beyond description humanitarian situation exacerbate with the rain fall season in nonexistence of shelter, and life-saving needs, thus the risk of potential outbreak of epidemics increase every day.
On the other hand, stemming from its moral and humane responsibility to do whatever it takes and in its capacity to save lives in the midst of the calamitous humanitarian situation and scarcity of resources at hand , the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army had established and streamlined large IDP camps across Jebel Marra to shelter and accommodate victims of the fleeing violence in areas of, Kalokiting, Kuturum, Debba Naira, Sabon al- Fagur, Fanga, Leiba, Golol, Turong Tawra, Sabaga, Sortony, Katur, Feina and Tawila.
Therefore, the civil authority of the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army solemnly appeal to the UN and its sister organizations working in the humanitarian field to provide the sorely needed humanitarian assistance and relief to avert certain disaster and death in mass to occur, as we are not indifference as well to the ongoing suffering of all Sudanese nationwide and the entire country desperately need unfettered humanitarian support and intervention.
Finally; The Sudan/Liberation Movement/Army seize this opportunity to renew its thanks and appreciation to the UN, its sister organizations and specialized agencies for the role they played and continue to play in Sudan, although more efforts is needed to be done in order to bring rapid end to the war and promote peace and stability in the country.

Thanks.
