Humanitarian appeal from the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army regarding the Humanitarian situation in Sudan

Addressed to:

  • The United Nation and its family of organizations.
  • The European Union (EU).
  • The Troika countries.
  • The African Union (AU).
  • The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
  • Member states of the Arab League.
  • Sudan’s neighboring countries.
  • Governments and national parliaments of the World.
  • The international and regional humanitarian organizations. The world has followed the ongoing war in Sudan since its outbreaks on 15th of April 2023, between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSFs), which left thousands of civilians killed, millions of internally displaced and refuge to the neighboring countries, in addition to millions others trapped in the regions and cities where the conflict is taking place, besides the colossal destruction to the public and private properties; worse still, is the destruction of the common national conscience by inciting hatred and racial speeches and the militarization on provincial and ethnic lines, to the extent that, Sudan today; is descending towards an inclusive civil war which will threaten the security and stability of the countries of the region and the world at large, if it breaks out.
However; there are millions of the displaced people in internally displaced and refugee camps and those trapped in towns and cities living in an extremely poor humanitarian conditions, lacking the most basic necessities of life such as food, shelter, drinking water and treatment.
Furthermore; there are millions of pupils and students at different levels who have been left outside the education system, due to the ongoing war, which vandalized and completely destroyed hospitals, schools, services –rendering facilities, power and water generating plants, factories, bridges and embankments and other public facilities, as well as; looting to the banks, companies and public and private properties. Yet; the parties to the conflict refuse to adhere to a cease fire, opening of roads and humanitarian paths to relief millions of starving- to- death civilians, which is an ultimate war crime, and regrettably, the world is viewing the Sudanese people facing all these violations and crimes without moving a finger, until Sudan entered to the stage of humanitarian catastrophe and famine due to this war.
Therefore; in light of the humanitarian situation that our country is experiencing, we in the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army affirm the followings:-
1- We demand that the international and regional community, and all the free nations across the globe to take urgent action and put pressure on the parties to the conflict to stop and end the war and open the roads and humanitarian paths, in order to deliver the sorely needed relief to all civilians in Sudan, across all roads and boarders with the neighboring countries and the internal airports.
2- We call on all parties to the conflict to refrain from using relief as a weapon of war against our defenseless civilians.
3- The movement reaffirms its readiness to cooperate with all parties including the two parties to the conflict, in order to guarantee swift and unfettered delivery of relief to civilians throughout Sudan, including areas of the liberated territories which falls under the sovereignty and controlled by the movement.

Abdul Wahid Mohammed Ahmed Alnour
The Chairman of the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army
10th of March 2024.
