An Urgent Humanitarian Appeal from Sudan Liberation Movement Civil Authority in the liberated territories of Jebel Marra

To;

  • Mr, Antonio Guterres

The Secretary – General of the United Nations

  • Directors of UN sisters organizations working in the humanitarian affairs
  • Directors of all regional and international organizations concerned with relief and Humanitarian work

We immensely than you for your tireless efforts and the tremendous endeavors exerted to tranquillize situations in the global hotspot areas, bring security and peace; provide living –needs to all humanity world -wide especially to the war- affected survivors of Sudan, Darfur and the Jebel Marra in particular.

However; regarding the dire and the poorest humanitarian situation which experienced by the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the Jebel Marra mountain, we solemnly reiterate our appeal to you, in order to save lives of the IDPs facing an extremely complex humanitarian conditions as they lack basic necessities of life, and their poignant situation might develop into a worst humanitarian disaster, if UN organization and its sister organizations that work in the humanitarian affairs did not urgently intervene and provide food and non-food items to them.

Moreover; we would like to bring to your information that, the civil authorities of the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army led by Abdul Wahid Mohammed Ahmed Alnour in its liberated territories of Jebel Marra have received myriad numbers of the IDPs who fled the scourge of the ongoing senseless war taking place between the two belligerents of the Rapid Support Forces (RSFs), and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in numerous parts of Sudan , which drove out more than 450,000 families from their homes, equivalent to 2,000,000 people and they found safe haven in the movement’s controlled territories, after they realized Jebel Marra Mountains is the safest place for their lives and properties when the civil authority sheltered them in its secure, organized and well protected camps .

Therefore; we want to notify the UN, its sister organizations, the international and regional community and the relevant humanitarian organizations that, these IDPs have not received any humanitarian aid which include food, medicine, shelter, health and educational facilities, and non existence of clean drinking water pose a real threat to their lives as well, furthermore; there is proliferation of cases of malnutrition and diseases such as malaria among the displaced people, high infants and elders mortality rate, and complete non existence of health care for pregnant and lactating women, besides three- quarters of the IDPs are coming from the vulnerable segments of the society ( children, women and the elderly persons).

Also some cases of unexamined watery diarrhea was observed among the displaced people which is an object of worry as some movement’s cotrolled areas border places which witnessed cholera outbreak recently.

The Internally Displaced persons (IDPs) camps in the movement’s areas were set in the following places; Tawila, Fanga, Katur, Sortony, Sabaga, Debeh naira, Galul, Kuturum, Turong Tawra, Kalokiting,Sabon al- Faqur, Fena and Leiba, thus the civil authority of the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army renew and sent its last minute appeal to you for quick intervention as the numbers of the IDPs in the above-mentioned shelter camps are increasing daily and in every passing hour, we count on you to appraise the situation and intervene without delay before it is late.

Thanks

Mujeeb al –Rahman Mohammed al Zobier

Head of the civil authority in the Liberated Territiries of the Sudan Liberation Army
