Statement from the Civil Authority of the Sudan Liberation Movement in the Liberated territories Regarding OCHA’S Report
We read a recap of report which was published on “Sudan Tribune.” news website, Azza Press news and in other media on 1st of July 2024, attributed to the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) of the United Nations Secretariat.
The report contained baseless information, fallacies and outright lies which could only be fabricated by the elitist mentality that does not take into account the ethics of honest professionalism, accuracy, impartiality and presentation of balanced viewpoints in writing its reports .
However; the recap of the report depicted Sudan Liberation Movement/Army led by Abdul Wahid Mohammed Ahmed Al Nour with creating obstacles, bureaucracy, impedes the delivery of essential humanitarian aid to those people affected by war long with other measures which causes delays and disruption to humanitarian operations.
Therefore; in light of this report we would like to clarify and affirm to local, regional and international public opinion the followings:
First; All the containment which stated in OCHA’s report is blatant lies and baseless misinformation that caused provocation to the feelings of millions of those affected by war, especially as the report came from one of the United Nations’ agencies working in humanitarian affairs, which ought to be neutral, professional and credible.
But alas! The report precisely signified the mentality of the political Islam that perpetrated genocide, ethnic cleansing, war crimes and crimes against humanity against defenseless daughters and sons of Sudan who became either refugee or Internally Displaced Person (IDP).
Second; The Sudan Liberation Movement/Army in the event of the flow of the huge numbers of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) fleeing the hell of the ongoing war from various cities and regions of Sudan, to the liberated territories which fall under the control and sovereignty of the movement, knowing that; these liberated territories today are the safest and most stable areas in Sudan, where the civil authority of the movement received, secured and sheltered them in camps, and eventually; solicited and sent rescue calls several times to the United Nations and its specialized agencies, to this end; the movement therefore; in its supreme echelon of the leadership which represented in the person of the movement’s chairman Abdul Wahid Mohammed Ahmed Al Nour , met with the representatives of large numbers of regional and international organizations, including OCHA, who assured them that; the movement would fulfill its moral humanitarian duty and ensure that relief and humanitarian aid reaches all the displaced people and those affected by war, not only in the liberated territories and Darfur region, but; in all different cities and regions of Sudan as well, which suffered from the scourge of war and that, the movement will not spare any efforts to realize this noble national and humanitarian goal .
Nonetheless; none of the approached regional organizations, until writing this statement delivered not even a single “kilo of corn” to feed the vulnerable hungry and displaced people who fled the scourge of war from different cities of Sudan which affected by the devastating war and well received by the movement in its liberated territories.
Third; The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) should have adhered to the ethics and principles of professionalism and the international humanitarian law, and acquainted the local and international public opinion with the sheer facts, instead of fabricating lies and concocted accusations.
Fourth; OCHA, made a request to the movement more than three times, that it want to access the liberated territories of the movement, to assess the humanitarian situation and the magnitude of the displacement, but; despite the movement’s unconditional approval to OCHA, never came to the areas controlled by the movement, and it’s known to all that, the fait accompli army- led government of Port Sudan which placed obstacles to OCHA and refused to grant it permission to enter Sudan, so why OCHA declined to mention that in its report?
Fifth; from the above- mentioned, we vehemently denounce and condemn in the strongest possible terms the behavior which was adopted by OCHA that include lies, frauds and fallacies, and double standards policy, it is indecent that, this manner is coming from an agency that we thought to be international and will not discriminate in the suffering of Sudanese civilians on political or geographical ground
Sixth; We reiterate our appeal to the United Nations and its specialized agencies to be more impartial and credible in strictly implementing their tasks and not to discriminate between the victims of war and eschew from lies, fabrication of reports and favoritism. Yet; there are more than five million internally displaced civilians in the liberated territories that are at risk, teetering on the edge of survival and they may die of severe hunger, fatal diseases, these ill- nourished civilians are in dire need of lifesaving necessities, such as bite of bread, panadol pills or a litter of drinking water to save their lives from certain mass death.
Seventh; The Sudan Liberation Movement/Army has a law which organizes the humanitarian work and organizations inside the liberated territories and under no circumstance that, they think of imposing obstacles on those who want to provide relief and humanitarian aid to civilians and displaced people affected by the war. As; the national project of the movement, priceless sacrifices and struggles, its principles and foundations are primarily for the sake of the Sudanese civilian wherever he/she is, so that he/she can live in freedom and dignity in a state of equal citizenship, we chose to go out to the arenas of national liberation to resist tyranny and oppression for the sake of these Sudanese civilians, and for them we shall live and die
